The Order of the Forge respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it. We aim to be straightforward — no legalese walls.
What We Collect
Newsletter signup (MailerLite): Your email address when you subscribe to our newsletter. This is handled by MailerLite, our email service provider.
Forum account (Flarum): When you register on the forum, we collect your username, email address, and password (stored encrypted). Your posts, profile information, and activity on the forum are also stored.
Standard web data: Our servers log basic access information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of normal web hosting. We may use analytics tools to understand how the site is used.
How We Use It
- Email addresses are used to deliver the newsletter and forum notifications. Nothing else.
- Forum data is used to operate the community — displaying posts, managing accounts, and enabling moderation.
- Web analytics help us understand which pages are useful and where to improve.
Third Parties
- MailerLite — handles newsletter delivery. Their privacy policy applies to data collected through signup forms.
- Amazon — some pages contain affiliate links to Amazon. If you click them, Amazon’s privacy policy governs that interaction.
- Hosting provider — our VPS host has access to server logs as part of providing hosting services.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone else.
Cookies
The forum uses session cookies to keep you logged in. MailerLite may set cookies for tracking newsletter signups. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
Your Rights
You may:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Request deletion of your forum account and associated data.
- Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.

Data Security
Passwords are stored encrypted. The forum and site are served over HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure.
Changes
If we change this policy materially, we will post an update here and note the new effective date.
